Help preserve this beautiful piece of South Australian country history !

All donations will go towards re-roofing all buildings on the Narracoorte Homestead property. 

*in 2022 a Heritage Adviser conducted a “Dilapidation Report” of the 4 buildings comprising the Narracoorte  Homestead Estate today. Among other immediate drainage diversion works, it was noted that all roofs are required to be replaced before deterioration to the roofing structure occurs.

 in 2023 a Heritage conservation grant was successful for 50% of the re-roof of Ormerod Cottage. The total cost is $20K, so $10K is still required for the re-roof. Works were delayed in 2024 due to repair work from storm damage in late 2023. The roof needs to be completed by May 2025 (grant conditions & pre-winter). 

nb. all galvanized iron will be re-purposed for the making of raised garden beds on the grounds, and insulation in the cellar.

*nb. Council rates alone on the property = $7,000 per annum, electricity costs skyrocketed, repairs & maintenance, gardening, business accounting, tax + insurance premiums post-2023 flooding in Naracoorte. The region’s tourism slows to a halt over winter making income-earning potential really only 6 months of the year.
