We are now a National Trust SA member!

Now, this is exciting...!

As a National Trust member, there are over 180 places to visit around Australia recognised for their historical significance, including homes, museums, and nature reserves; and over 1,000 sites internationally...! Discounted entry / accommodation is offered on a case-by-case basis depending on the site.

Being a member directly supports the conservation of South Australia’s (& internationally) unique cultural and historical heritage for future generations, with an SA magazine called 'Heritage Living' published three times a year.

I'm looking forward to diving into my first copy (& the Homestead perhaps being featured in the next one in 2026!)

Also, a mini-project is underway to properly identify the historical buildings on the Narracoorte Homestead site with a 'Heritage SA' Blue Plaque to mark their historical significance.

The Heritage SA Blue Plaque program enables Heritage SA to work with owners of State Heritage Places to install plaques recognising the Heritage Significance of their State Heritage Listed properties. At the moment, these are generally offered to newly confirmed Places or where the Place has been investigated as a part of the Better Heritage Information (BHI) Project.

The Better Heritage Information Project aims to improve information recorded on registered Heritage Places, particularly those that were listed some time ago such as the Naracoorte Homestead listed in 1985. A BHI document has not yet been prepared for Naracoorte Homestead.

Stay tuned for more...!!

Images from around the garden today - if you can't brag about your garden work mid-Spring, then when can you...! Flowers, flowers, flowers overflowing everywhere.

2nd image: the beautiful Pierre de Ronsard climbing rose - an arch for them to climb on is coming soon :-), lovely French lavender, and the bountiful ornamental weeping mulberry bushes
